I feel like I've told this one too many times:

On the Spring 81 tour, Mickey was doing that talking drum solo at a microphone slightly stage right of Bob & Jerry's mics. On THIS night, the night after the Tom Snyder appearance, the stage crew did not remove the mic after drums, but left it up as a tease all night, so that Phil could sing back-up on U.S. Blues (or Phil sang back-up beacuse they left it out; I obviously can't know which).

You only get a hint of it on Hunter's extraordinary matrix, but it was probably the biggest crowd reaction I ever saw.

The other one that springs to mind is the 80's breakout of Box of Rain, but I have no time to find it ...

I was lucky enough to be at that "Box" breakout!

I'd say it was the biggest "crowd goes wild" I ever saw except for this one, which i was also lucky enough to attend: (80's St. Stephen breakout; first in 5 years:)

And I was at the last St Stephen in Marin 10-31-83. So between us we sewed up that tune!

10/31/1992 JGB - Jerry's return after 1992 illness.

After The Maker he steps to the mic and says, "So.....(he chuckles), how y'all doin?"

This was one of the best Jerry performances I witnessed. Find show, play show, enjoy show.

Excellent recs so far. I love that 75 aud and the U.S. Blues and Box of Rain were both a lot of fun. As for this 92 JGB show I am downloading right now. A quick google search shows that its seeding right now on etree
